How can a 1 hour nap mess up bed time so badly?? Rant.


We’ve spent my entire three week break getting my 3, nearly 4 yo daughter caught up on sleep. She’s spent most of that time being a cranky little turd and generally a threenager.We’ve miraculously managed to finally get her to participate in “quiet time” for about 30-60 mins in the middle of every day. Something I always scoffed at the possibility of (she’s a mad extravert). That’s been really helping her get through the day without too many meltdowns.Then today, my last day off, she incredibly fell asleep during quiet time for 45-60 mins. We rejoiced, the angels sang, and we had a lovely afternoon together with our rested daughter. We talked about how that was time well spent, getting her back on track and how the quiet time is good, and wow can you believe she napped?? (Hasn’t napped in a year).Now here we are FOUR HOURS past her bedtime, FOUR FREAKING HOURS past when she would normally be asleep, wondering what the hell happened? How can 1 hour nap actually lose you 3 hours? That’s going to take weeks to catch up. She never ever sleeps in, so she’ll be up in our shit at probably 5:30 tomorrow, back to being a turd. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2CNM4EI
