My girlfriend has a 5 year old son, his dad is locked up on federal drug charges for 35 years and she is having trouble deciding to tell him or not. I've maintained that when he is older or when he starts pressing the issue we should tell him... The father was never a part of his sons life and was physically and mentally abusive to her. Of course now he wants us to read him letters and have him write back... I know I'm being very selfish by not wanting him to be a part of his life but I do want what's best for my boy.
