So today my wife and I gave birth to our second child and we have decided to give this one my wife's last name, our first child has my last name. My wife didn't take my last name and this was partly due to her being the end of the line for her family's name. I should also mention that her name is extremely special to her and her family as it was given to their great great grandfather by the king of the country they are originally from. As for my last name my family has traced our roots back a few hundred years to an early immigrate to America 100 years before it was even America; I'm also the last possibility to pass on my name. We thought this would be a really neat thing to do but have been met with mixed reactions as family learn of the new baby's name. I'm sure there are plenty of parents who have done this that can shed some light on any possible issues our two children may encounter because of their names being different. We do not plan on changing the name and we are happy with our decision. Thanks! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2rNldDI
