My son (16) has had social anxiety for years. Has trouble making social connections and also tends to stay to himself almost always. The one thing he excels at is, strangely enough, singing. And not just in a group, but soloing! It’s the one place he truly shines. He recently tried out for a school talent show, and reported a standing ovation during this session, but today he was informed via text he didn’t make the cut. He’s totally crushed, and I’m afraid it’ll cause him to completely retract back into his shell. At the same time, rejection is a part of life, even when you try hard. I don’t want to cushion him, but I definitely need some advice on how to approach him.Add to that, he failed a math test today after trying to be better about studying. Overall, a lot of failure for him in one day. Any help is appreciated! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2heTO6c
