For a while, I've noticed that my daughter has been having some issues with words, either having them garbled followed by babble or just one word responses. I checked with her pediatrician, bringing up the lack of new words and her speech delays and was given information regarding a state sponsored program that evaluates children with delays of any kind.I told my wife about it but she said that our daughter is fine. My wife didn't seem concerned but when our daycare brought it up again about a month later, I insisted on getting our daughter evaluated, not just for early intervention should something be wrong, but also piece of mind.If you've never done an evaluation before, its a relatively painless process and your kid thinks that there are two new people to play with. It was amazing to see how my daughter interacted with them and immediately opened up to them, it was astonishing. The great thing about the evaluation is that at the end of it, they tell you the results and give you an idea of advice. At least that's the way they do it in my state.Anyways, at the end of the evaluation, come to find out that my daughter is indeed a little delayed in her speech, but they think she'll come around to it when she gets older. She doesn't need services but we can hire someone to help out if we really want to push it. Hearing that was a relief and seeing how they evaluate the child really gave me peace of mind.If you're ever concerned about your child and they seem delayed in any way, get them evaluated asap just for your own sanity check. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2zYNYNY
