Backstory, our daughter is three, will be 4 in March. She is very smart, chatty, mature for her age and can be sweet. For the past 4ish months she has not been listening, sassing back, screaming, generally not easy to get along with and just is pure defiance. We give her options, we let her lead the way in less important things like her outfit/hair etc and we always try to approach bad behavior with calmly asking to stop/please listen/‘this is important for you’ etc but it always devolves into yelling, her acting so horribly she then gets put in time out and that can just result in endless full volume wailing for well over 5-10minutes. We just cannot communicate with her on a connective level and we are losing our minds and honestly it puts a serious strain on our marriage because we can’t even have a conversation without rude and blatantly annoying loud behavior.
