I kind of feel like my kid's school is a little strict on sending home 'urgent letters' with my kid for his 'infractions.' My kid is super sensitive so every time he gets a slip sent home that he has to write out a whole plan on "who he hurt and why" and then I have to write something and sign it, he sobs for an hour and obsesses over it. My problem is ... all of the things are kind of not a big deal for a kid to do? They aren't GOOD things, they just don't seem like the kind of things I would have had a letter sent home about when I was a kid. They are more like the kind of things that should be addressed at school and then they get in trouble and that's that. I feel like all of this makes the actual BIG things kids do "just the same as" little stupid things. All of the possible 'charges' are actually listed on this sheet on the back, so to me that says they are all the same. Here is the list: - He drew a dick on a piece of paper and laughed about it with a friend. - He said to another friend that something 'looked like boobs". (They ACTUALLY wrote on the paper "he said it looked like "B_ _ _ _ (female anatomy.)" which kind of made me more mad lmao) - He JUMPED over a kid that was laying down on the ground at recess. - Another kid drew boobs on the baseball field and he told someone about it. - A kid that was not supposed to be sitting by him at lunch decided to sit by him at lunch and he told him to move. - The bus driver told him to move seats and then didn't like the seat that he moved to so he threw up his arms and said "I don't know what you want me to do!"Am I wrong for thinking it's a little overzealous to send a note home for this kind of stuff? I kind of expect a note home if he is beating someone up or being a total shit, but they are learning about puberty and anatomy in 5th grade, I remember kids being way worse than this? I do hold him accountable, but I also tell him to not worry so much about it because his anxiety level is just over the top. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2AqfGEI
